Castle is a completely unique and quite beautiful Cornish mansion house steeped in history. The house was built in the 1800’s out of local natural stone and granite in a classical style, with arched mullioned windows and balconies over looking the lawn. Legend has it that King Mark, when getting married to Irish Princess Iseult, sent his nephew Tristan to bring her from Ireland to Cornwall. During this journey the two fell in love and had a secret affair. Richard Wagner composed an opera on this story called ’Tristan and Iseult’, and this love story mentions them meeting in the old orchard in the grounds of Castle.
