About Camborne
Now quite a large town with a rich mining heritage which caused its substantial growth in the 19th century. Home of the inventor Richard Trevithick (famous for boilers and steam engines).
Another centre of the famous Cornish mining industry, Camborne grew in the 18th and 19th century with the development of copper and tin mining.
Some evidence of this former industry can be seen in the ruins of various stacks and engine houses, the last working tin mine was here too, closing only some 20 years ago
